The first heart transplant in northwestern region of Iran and East Azerbaijan province was successfully done at Shahid Madani teaching hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences on 27 May, 2018.
This transplant was done on a 26-year-old man. The surgery team comprised of Dr. Rezayat Parvizi, Dr. Nasser Safaei, Dr. Sohrab Negargar and Dr. Elgar Anamzadeh. Also, Dr. Zargham Hossein Ahmadi from Masih Daneshvari hospital of Tehran collaborated with TUOMS team in this operation.
