Dr. Behrooz Ziad Alizadeh, Professor of Genetic Epidemiology & Bioinformatics from the University of Groningen_Netherlands, Visited TUOMS

Dr. Behrooz Ziad Alizadeh, professor of Genetic Epidemiology & Bioinformatics from the University of Groningen_Netherlands, visited Tabriz University of Medical Sciences on 23 July, 2014. The aim of this visit was to find out the grounds for joint research projects between TUOMS and the University of Groningen. During this 2-day visit Dr. Alizadeh gave a lecture on Genetic Immunology and also spoke to the managers of 4 TUOMS research centers including Biotechnological, Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology, Immunology and Drug Applied research centers. Having negotiated the terms and seen the capabilities of the mentioned centers, Dr. Alizadeh and TUOMS officials concluded the potentials for joint scientific projects as follows:

Biotechnological Research Center:

            1. Conducting joint research projects on TNF and Bioinformatics

            2. Cooperation on the project of Functional Impact of TNF-Alpha Mutations

Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology Research Center:

            1. Cooperation on the study of Host Interaction and H.pylori

            2. General collaboration on GI and Nano projects

Immunology Research Center:

1. Cooperation on the project of Immunological Assessment of Oncogenes and Immunogenes

Drug Applied Research Center:

            1. Student exchange program

            2. Designation and implementation of joint research projects

Finally, Dr. Alizadeh attended the closing meeting with Dr. Somi (TUOMS Chnacellor) and other senior TUOMS officials and negotiated the terms of the academic collaboration between the two sides.
